ActivityFollowing a United Nations Convention relating to the Status of Refugees held in 1951 certain international agreements were made governing the treatment of refugees. In the UK, two independent organisations were founded in 1951, namely the British Council for Aid to Refugees (BCAR) and the Standing Conference on Refugees (SCOR). In 1981 these two organisations merged to form the British Refugee Council.
