DescriptionPapers and correspondence relating to the meetings of Christian Debate, an informal gathering for the purpose of discussing contemporary issues, arranged by John Stott and attended by a small group of friends. Members included Michael Allison, Timothy Dudley-Smith, Oliver Barclay and Lord Griffiths of Fforestfach

Also contains material relating to proposals for the formation of a Community of Christian Concern, intended as a more formal monthly meeting of British evangelicals in the manner of the Shaftesbury Project on Christian Involvement in Society, with the idea formally abandoned in June 1979 (ff. 97-102)

Primarily comprises of memoranda listing details of forthcoming meetings, including information on agreed topics and recommended books. Also includes minutes of two early meetings discussing nuclear war and disarmament in 1958 (ff. 109-114), and the Christian view of the State in 1959 (ff. 103-108). Correspondence in the file concerns attendance, including invitations extended to the Archbishop of Canterbury George Carey (ff. 5-7, 72-73) and the cessation of the Christian Debate group's meetings in 2003 (ff. 1-4)
