DescriptionSeries consists of papers relating to John Lyttle's, Archbishop's Secretary for Public Affairs from 1987 to 1991, work to secure the release of Terry Waite, Archbishop's Assistant for Anglican Communion Affairs, kidnapped in Lebanon 20 January 1987. After Lyttle's death in April 1991, prior to Waite's release, his role was filled by Francis Witts and the papers continue until Waite's resignation from Lambeth Palace staff in May 1992.
