Description A book containing copies of legal documents relating to the courts and administration of the Archbishop of Canterbury in the time of George Abbot, Archbishop of Canterbury 1610-1633. The documents derive especially from the Court of Arches, the Court of Audience, and the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, and from the work of the Vicar General of Canterbury. Included are appeals, allegations, libels, monitions, sentences, excommunications, letters dimissory, testimonials, licences (for marriage, to practise medicine etc), collations, institutions and many other forms of documents. Many were issued by Sir Daniel Dun, or Sir Daniel Donne (1545-1617) and Sir William Bird (c.1560-1624) as Officials Principal of the Court of Arches. The documents appear to have been collected to serve as forms and precedents and often omit the full names of the parties involved as well as the dates of the documents. The dated items are between 1616 and 1623.
