William Temple married Frances Gertrude Acland. There were no children of the marriage. Frederick Charles Temple married Frances Mary Copleston (Francie). Their children included Frederick Stephen Temple (1916-2000), who became suffragan bishop of Malmesbury.
CustodialHistoryBefore they were acquired by Lambeth Palace Library, the papers were used by Dean Iremonger for his biography of William Temple (1948), Some Lambeth Letters, ed. F. S. Temple (1963), and by Peter Hinchliff for his life of Frederick Temple (1998). The papers were listed in Report on correspondence and miscellaneous papers of ... the Temple family by the Royal Commission on Historical Manuscripts (1986) while in the custody of the Rt Revd F S Temple (copy in Lambeth Palace Library, MS 3407 ff. 47-46), although a few items listed there were not acquired by Lambeth Palace Library.
AcquisitionThree boxes of papers were presented to the Library by Bishop F S Temple in 1996, and a further three boxes were acquired by the Library in 2003 from the Temple family with the aid of the Friends of the National Libraries, the Corporation of Church House and the Friends of Lambeth Palace Library.
MS 3106, MS 3208, ff. 310-45, and MS 3209 contain recollections of William Temple by his wife Frances. The family papers on the MSS sequence complement the official papers of Frederick and William Temple as Archbishop (Archbishops' Papers), and the papers of Frederick Temple as Bishop of London (Fulham Papers).

See National Register of Archives.
