Description | Lectures and Sermons.The attribution to Andrewes is based on style and content; the manuscript is not in his hand, but appears to be a transcription made c. 1650.
ff. 1-11r. 'Manductio ad theologiam polemicam', probably unrelated to Andrewes. ff. 11v-131r. Series of twelve lectures on the elements and grounds of religion. Probably delivered by Andrewes to schoolboys at Westminster where he was Dean from 1601 to 1605. ff. 132r-189r. Six sermons [probably preached between 1588 and 1603]. The second sermon on the theme of victory (ff. 142-150), may have been delivered at Court at Easter 1589, following the defeat of the Armada. |
