Records currently included in the database

The database includes the core holdings: archives of the Archbishops and his officials; the Library's extensive manuscripts (MS) sequence, from the medieval manuscripts to recently-catalogued acquisitions; archives acquired from other churchmen and church bodies.

Not all the archive and manuscript holdings are described here. Descriptions not on the system include marriage licence data from the Faculty Office, 1714-1850, and Vicar General, 1694-1850. Indexes are available in the Library, or online via FindMyPast (to subscribers) or via the Society of Genealogists (to SoG members). For detailed information on the contents of the Archbishops' registers, consult published editions, or indexes held on site in the Library.

For other online resources (the catalogue of printed books, and database containing selected images from the collections), see the Lambeth Palace Library website.
If you cannot find what you require, please contact Lambeth Palace Library.

The majority of the records at CERC do not yet feature in the online catalogue, so please contact the Church of England Record Centre if you cannot find what you’re looking for. The catalogue currently includes:
The archive of the Church Commissioners for England and their predecessors including the Ecclesiastical Commissioners and the Governors of the Bounty of Queen Anne for the Augmentation of the Maintenance of the Poorer Clergy.
The archive of the General Synod and its predecessor, the Church Assembly, including the various advisory boards, councils and committees that worked with or for the Synod and Assembly.
The archive of the British Council of Churches.
The catalogue also includes the papers of a number of societies and groups associated with the above bodies.
