ActivityThe preparatory commission to establish the World Conference on Faith and Order was set up in 1910 at the initiative of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the USA. The first Conference met at Lausanne in 1927; the second at Edinburgh in 1937; the third at Lund in 1952. In 1937-38 it was agreed that the Faith and Order and Life and Work movements should amalgamate to form a World Council of Churches. This was formally constituted at Amsterdam in 1948.
