Description | Series of letters sent by Fr. Congreve at regular intervals over a period of over 20 years. The letters are generally written in an informal, friendly manner, with Fr. Congreve often providing advice for Miss Kebbel on religious matters. The sending of religious texts - meditataions, sermons and copies of pamphlets or publications - is a constant theme throughout, with some of this done in lieu of Miss Kebbel performing some editing work prior to their publication.
Fr. Congreve's work on behalf of SSJE is regularly discussed, particularly during the years 1899-1904 when he was stationed in Cape Town, South Africa. In the years following his return from South Africa Fr. Congreve often makes reference to visiting his family in Shropshire and discusses various Retreats he has attended. |
