TitleSt. Cuthbert's Mission - 1930s-1940s
DescriptionBlack & white images taken in and around the St. Cuthbert's Mission, Tsolo, South Africa, which was founded in 1865 by Bishop Key. The majority of the images are annotated verso elucidating their content, with many of the individuals in view named, and many are dated. The earliest is dated 1930, with the bulk being dated to a period 1939-1943.

Included are views of the interior and exterior of the mission buildings, SSJE Fathers and local religious leaders - including the Archbishop of Cape Town, locals attending the mission and at work, Bele Mountain and the surrounding grasslands, and an image of the gathering for the Jubilee Festival, 10 September 1932, which was attended by the Archbishop of Cape Town. Further images show churches local to the Mission, including Ngxoto, Ngele and Siwxago, and local schools at Upper Nqxaza.
