CustodialHistoryVol. I is one of Leofric's books. In the list of books given by Leofric to Exeter, no. 42 is Expositio Bede super Apocalipsim: doubtless this volume. Mrs F. Rose-Troup, who has been investigating the Leofric books, inclines to believe that this volume came from the monastery of Exeter. The obliteration of the name in our book is unlucky. It seems to have been erased and then treated with galls. Mrs Rose-Troup is of opinion that the name of Exeter in some form has been written above the line. My own observation cannot serve to confirm this.
The book undoubtedly figures in the Exeter Catalogue of 1506. Oliver, Lives, p. 307: Expositio super Apocalipsim 2 fo. transituri ad capud: cf. the list of 1327, p. 303. (Libri Bede) "Super Apocalypsim (inc.) Apocalypsim Sancti Iohannis. 2s." It was seen at Exeter by Leland, Coll. IV. 151.
Vol. II is from Lanthony. In the Lanthony Catalogue no. 186 is: Enchiridion. Augustinus. de vita sancti Edwardi regis liber mediocris, which I identify with this book.
