Description'The booke of the accompts of the receipts & disbursments of Sir Richard Forster, knight and baronet, Tresorer of the King of Great Bretaine his houshould since his Ma[jes]tie came into France in the yeare of our Lord God, 1651'.
Accounts kept by Sir Richard Forster (1585?-1661), Treasurer-General in France to Queen Henrietta Maria and Keeper of the King's Privy Purse, recording the income and disbursement of the pension secured by Charles II from the French government. The pension ceased following the treaty between France and Cromwell's England of October 1655; Charles II became a pensioner of Spain from 1656 to 1660.

f. i. An aquittance, signed and sealed by Queen Henrietta Maria, ratifying the accounts of Sir Richard Forster, Treasurer of her household, for the period from 1 May 1640 to 10 December 1658. Palais Royal, Paris, 14 Dec. 1658. On vellum, tipped into the volume.

CustodialHistoryRecorded as an addition to the catalogue of the Lambeth manuscripts by David Wilkins dated 1720 (LR/F/40). Wilkins' cataloguing ends at MS. 878. The additions recorded (MSS. 879-888) appear to have been made c.1738-41, during the archiepiscopate of John Potter.

MSS. 645-646 comprise correspondence of Charles II in exile.
