Description | Statutes of Eton College as approved by Henry VI c.1443-c.1447, with later additions. A copy, 17th century.
f. i. Letters patent of Elizabeth I approving a reform of the statute concerning fees and benefits of the Provost and Fellows. 11 June 1566. With a note by the transcriber that this letter is entered in the exemplar at the end of the College statutes, and is entered here for lack of space at the end of his volume. ff. 1r-89r. Statutes, in 61 chapters, beginning with a preamble by Henry VI. The earliest statutes were compiled c.1443-44 and codified in the Liber Originalis c.1447. f. 89r. Two additional statutes. Followed by the initials 'R.H.', seemingly the transcriber. ff. 89r-v. Letters patent of Henry VI entrusting William Waynflete, Bishop of Winchester, and John Chadworth, Bishop of Lincoln, with a reform of the statutes. 12 July 33 Henry VI [1455]. ff. 89v-90v. Reforms of the statutes by William Waynflete, Bishop of Winchester, and John Chadworth, Bishop of Lincoln. [1455]. At the end are the initials 'R.H.', seemingly the transcriber. |
