DescriptionA copper one penny token, issued by Thomas Prattent at a time of currency shortage. Prattent issued a number of tokens depicting Surrey and London landmarks, in this case presenting a view of the river front of Lambeth Palace. On the other side of the token are the arms of London and Westminster.
CustodialHistoryThis item comes from the collection of Richard Dalton, who was one of the authors of the standard book (1910) on eighteenth-century provincial token-coinage.
AcquisitionPurchased by the Friends of Lambeth Palace Library in 2014.
