TitleSt. Chrysostom and St. Jude's Church Demolition
DescriptionCorrespondence, press cuttings and related reports on the demolition of St. Chrysostom and St. Jude's Church, Peckham. The proposed demolition led to friction between Evelyn Garth Moore (Chancellor of Southwark) and Bishop Mervyn Stockwood (Bishop of Southwark) when the Bishop authorised the demolition. Moore complained that he had not been properly consulted on the issue, that the demolition had been carried out without the order of the Consistory Court and that the church could have been salvaged. File includes a copy of the Bishop's judgement and summary of the case (18th February 1964).
