DescriptionPapers consisting principally of duplicated statements of evidence and drafts of the report of the Archbishops' Commission on the relations between Church and State appointed pursuant to a resolution of the Church Assembly on 5 February 1930. The Commission published its report entitled Church and State in 1935. The most active members of the Commission were Viscount Cecil of Chelwood (chairman), William Temple, Archbishop of York, G. K. A. Bell, Bishop of Chichester, the Earl of Selborne, Sir P. W. B. Wilbraham, 6th Bart., and H. B. Vaisey, K.C. The most important papers, with the exception of those printed in the published Report, are listed.
