DescriptionGenealogy of the royal family of France and of the nobility descended from it, 11-16th century. Incomplete.
At f. 11v is a reference to Henry II of France (d. 1559) as 'pere du roy a present' [his three sons reigned 1559-89]. At ff. 12r and 40r are references to events between 1583 and 1588.

The volume was written from the other end, in reverse from the present foliation. It is incomplete. Folio 57 (found detached from the present binding) may be misplaced.
CustodialHistoryFrom the 'Carew-Sheldon' manuscripts. Recorded [as item 148] in the 'Carew-Sheldon' catalogue dated 1664: 'pedigree of the Royall Famyly of France and of the nobility thence taking their extraction, folio' (Bodleian Library, Tanner MS. 275a, f. 10v ). These manuscripts were acquired by Gilbert Sheldon (1598-1677), Archbishop of Canterbury. All, or nearly all, were previously owned by George Carew, 1st Earl of Totnes (1555-1629). See M. R.
