DescriptionLetter-book of Sir Isaac Wake (1580-1632), containing autograph copies of his letters as Ambassador to France. The lettters are addressed to Dudley Carleton, Viscount Dorchester, Secretary of State, and, after the latter's death on 15 February 1632, to Richard Weston, 1st Earl of Portland (1633) and Sir John Coke.

CustodialHistoryCatalogued by Edmund Gibson, Lambeth Librarian from 1696 (LR/F/39, f. 94r).
Probably owned by Gilbert Sheldon, Archbishop of Canterbury 1663-78. Other letter books of Sir Isaac Wake (British Library Add. MSS. 34,310-11) have bookplates of Sir John Dolben (d. 1756), son of Sheldon's grand-nephew and heir Gilbert Dolben (see Sheldon's will, copy in MS. 577, ff. 66v-69r, and see also the Dolben provenance of the Sheldon papers in the Bodleian Library).
