Title | 'Thorder off discipline in the Englishe churche off Franckforde received'. |
Date | [1555] |
Description | A copy in two hands subscribed by David Whit[e]head [Whitehead], pastor, Richard Cox, Henry Parrye, Thomas Beacon [Becon], Richard Alvey, Humphrey Perkyns, John Bale. Apparently a copy of the order 'received' by the party of Richard Cox after its triumph over that of John Knox and the latter's departure on 26 March 1555. It is probably dated after 20 September 1555, when Whitehead was certainly pastor, and may therefore predate ff. 1-4". It appears to be the only contemporary account of the church at Frankfort am Main, for the Brief discourse was not published until 1575. |
