DescriptionCatalogue of the muniments of the hospitals of St. Nicholas, Harbledown, and St. John the Baptist, Northgate, Canterbury, Kent.

The catalogue of the charters, deeds and other records of the Hospital of St. Nicholas, Harbledown was compiled to complement the transcripts of these documents by Henry Hall (MS. 1131) which were not entirely complete at the time of Hall's death in 1763.
The catalogue of the records of St. John the Baptist, Canterbury, was added because of the common foundation, statutes and estates of the two hospitals. Both were founded by Archbishop Lanfranc (d. 1089).

ff. i-iii. Flyleaves. At f. i is a note, probably in the hand of A.C. Ducarel, Lambeth Librarian: 'This account was drawn up by the Revd. Mr. Osmond Beauvoir A.M., Master of the King's School at Canterbury A.D. 1765'.

f. iv. Title page. 'Liber hospitalium Archiepiscopi hoc est Sancti Nicholai de Herbaldown et Sancti Iohannis Baptistae de Northgate iuxta Cantuarium MDCCLXV'.

Rules for the administration of the hospitals of St. Nicholas, Harbledown, and St. John, Northgate, Canterbury, in the form of an injunction by Edward White Benson, Archbishop of Canterbury. A printed copy, with the autograph signature of Archbishop Benson and date 2 April 1895. Together with a letter from Sir John Hassard, Principal Registrar of the Province of Canterbury, to Samuel Wayland Kershaw, Lambeth Librarian, depositing the injunction in Lambeth Palace Library as instructed by the Archbishop, 5 April 1895.
