DescriptionTranscripts of charters and other records belonging to the Hospital of St. Nicholas, Harbledown, Kent.
The Hospital was founded by Archbishop Lanfranc around 1085 for the relief of lepers. It subsequently became an almshouse.

The transcripts were made by Henry Hall (1717-1763), who completed transcripts of all of the charters and most of the private deeds by the time of his death in 1763. Hall was Lambeth Librarian 1742-57. He was ordained in 1749 and served as Rector of Harbledown 1750-63, Vicar of Herne 1752-6, Rector of Orpington 1755-63, and Vicar of East Peckham 1756-63.

The original muniments of the hospital were destroyed by aerial bombardment, 1 June 1942, while lodged with Messrs. Fielding and Pembrook at Canterbury.
