Overseas travel: Finland (February), Switzerland (March), USA/Canada (May/June), Norway (June), Canada (July), Finland (September), Sri Lanka/Singapore/Madras - India (October) and Ireland (November).

Start of the Faith House meetings, the first at Lambeth Palace with the new Archbishop of Canterbury, Robert Runcie (February, May and November). SOMA begins to develop.
