11-27. A Supplement to the Vindication of Mr. Alex. Campbell: wherein All the Objections made to the said Vindication are answered, particularly those in a late Paper, called, Mr. Noxons Observations, &c. New York, Printed by J. Peter Zenger, in Smith-Street. Chiefly an attack on William Vesey, Rector of Trinity Church, New York, and Commissary, for some proceeding against Campbell on charges of immorality. 52-67. A Short Discourse on the present State of the Colonies in America with Respect to the Interest of Great Britain. Manuscript, anonymous and undated, but note of presentation to Bishop Gibson places it before 1748. Deals with political, military, and fiscal problems.
68-119. W(William) Smith, A General Idea of the College of Mirania. New York: J. Parker and W. Weyman, 1753. This hypothetical project attracted the attention of Franklin and others engaged in founding the College of Philadelphia and led to Smith's appointment as first provost.
120-206. The Charter, Transfer and Statutes of the College of William and Mary, in Virginia: in Latin and English. Williamsburg: William Hunter, 1758.
207-26. Manuscript sermon on II Timothy 3: 16 by Samuel Seabury, Rector of St. Peter's, Westchester, New York, later first Bishop of Connecticut. Presented to the Bishop of London by a later rector of St. Peter's, Frank M. Clendenin.
227-45. A Discourse showing how requisite it is to Incourage Learning, Religion, and Episcopal Church Government in the English Plantations, and that this is no way inconsistent with the Interests of Great Brittain. Manuscript, anonymous, undated.
246-93. Partial list of Fulham papers. Notation on cover says it was secured from waste papers of the late W(illiam) Dickes for the Bishop of London by W. Wright.
294-321. Beilby Porteus, A Letter to the Governors, Legislatures, and Proprietors of Plantations, in the British West-India Islands. London, T. Cadell and W. Davies; T. Payne; and F. C. and J. Rivington, 1808. Having, by action in chancery, regained control of the Boyle legacy, formerly employed for the instruction of Indians in William and Mary (cf. xi. 21), Bishop Porteus proposes to use it for the instruction of slaves in the West Indies. He has founded a society for the purpose and proposes a public subscription for the establishment of parochial schools to give such instruction on the Bell plan. He asks the co-operation of the West Indian authorities in the project.
322-57. Minutes of the Proceedings of the Trial of an Action for Defamation, in the Grand Court, Held in Spanish-Town, on Monday, 17th October, 1808; Baily, Wentworth, Esq., vs. Donaldson, The Revd. Colin. Kingston, A. Lunan, Jun., 1808. Donaldson was convicted, by a jury of planters, of defamation and assessed £766 with costs for accusing Baily of cruelty to his slaves. The charge was made in the course of a dispute over the purchase of land for a glebe. (Cf. also xviii. 157-66.)
