Description'Subscriptions for the missionarys in America'.

Account book recording subscriptions to a fund for the relief of loyalist clergy in America during the American Revolutionary War (especially missionaries of the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel), banked with Robert and Henry Drummond & Co, bankers, London.
The book records subscriptions to the value of £1802 10s 3d received between 7 Feb. 1776 and 28 Jan. 1777. Also disbursements for the relief of clergy from July 1776 to March 1779.

Subscriptions to the fund, which was under the direction of Frederick Cornwallis (1713-1783), Archbishop of Canterbury, opened on 6 February 1776 and closed on 28 January 1777. The fund then totalled £6684 0s 7d, banked with three separate bankers, Messrs. Hoare, Drummond and Gosling (see SPG VI, f. 378).
