Title | Goals for Our Future Society |
Date | 1984-1987 |
AdminHistory | This Working Party came out of the 1985 General Synod debate of GS 699, 'Goals for Our Future Society'. GS 699A, the consultative document of the same title, invited responses from the Church (BSR/WP/GOA/4 in this series are the returns). The Working Party was created as it was felt 'there was something further to be said' about the 'current industrial predicament', this despite the work already done in the area by the Industrial and Economic Affairs Committee.
The terms of reference were:
In the light of Christian belief, to analyse and evaluate the present major trends and changes taking place in sociaty and in particular to consider their implication for;
a, our values and goals as citizens b, the distribution of work c, the distribution of wealth and income d, family and household life
Most Reverend John S Habgood, Archbishop of York (Chairman). It was later retitled Changing Britain. |
