AdminHistoryTh BCHT was created in 1964 under the auspices of the BCC and its Social Responsibility Department following a study carried out by the London Churches Group on housing and the homeless during the period 1961 to 1963; it reported its findings in 1963, which highlighted a cronic housing shortage. As a result of this report and the Milner Holland report, the Trust was launched as a promotional and advisory body to encourage and stimulate the formation of new housing associations through local councils of churches, individual churches, church groups and religious organisation to alleviate the housing problem.
