TitleActs of Court
DescriptionDrafts for the Act Books (Arches series A).

The Acts of Court are draft accounts of the proceedings of the court, made a the time of the hearing, attested by a notary, and later copied into the Act Books (Arches series A). The Acts of Court include appointments of guardians and proxies but sentences are filed in a separate series (B).
The Acts are entered on loose sheets of paper, of varying sizes, there being in most cases a separate sheet for each case; however, in some cases more than one case is recorded on the same document. The Acts were originally filed on string and grouped by session. They have now been arranged in yearly bundles.
ArrangementThe documents bear several numbering systems: itemisation; foliation; running numbers allocated to individual case records where more than one appears on a single document. This is not always consistently reflected in catalogue records.
